U.S. Gauge
AMETEK - U.S. Gauge is a worldwide manufacturer of bourdon tube and diaphragm capsule pressure gauges, with locations in: Largo, Florida; Sellersville, Pennsylvania; Taipei, China; and Xiamen, China. The Sellersville facility is our Worldwide Distribution Center. The Largo plant is the manufacturing site for all Process Gauges. Largo welds (or solders), assembles, and 100 % calibrates every gauge manufactured at that location and is ISO 9001 registered. Largo also manufactures all M&G (Mansfield and Green) diaphragm seals.
Largo is supplied parts by outside vendors as well as our Sellersville, PA plant. Sellersville manufactures all of the bourdon tubes used in our Process Gauges. AMETEK-USG uses only Seamless Bourdon Tubes to provide our customers with the highest quality product available.
The AmeKai plants in Taipei and Xiamen are a 50%/50% joint venture that AMETEK, Inc., entered into in 1995. Prior to the joint venture AMETEK-USG had been doing business with AmeKai since the late 1980's. AmeKai manufactures our Compressed Gas, General Equipment, and some Liquid Filled Gauges and is an ISO 9001 registered facility.

Solid State Piezoresistive Silicon Strain Gauge
These pressure sensors utilize a solid state piezoresistive sensing element, electrostatically bonded to glass to virtually eliminate the effects of induced stress and vibration. Variations in applied process pressure will change the resistance of each piezoresistor. Four active elements are used in a Wheatstone bridge circuit and provide an output voltage proportional to the applied pressure. The sensor assemblies are combined with a thick film, laser trimmed hybrid electronic circuit.
When required the silicon sensor is isolated from the corrosive affects of media with a stainless steel diaphragm and oil fill. This isolation/diaphragm technology provides maximum material compatibility with the process media. Also, there is no direct mechanical contact made with the sensor to induce errors in pressure measurement.
Metal Thin Film Strain Gauge
Once reserved for high performance aircraft transducers this technology has found its way into general process measurement applications. A thin film of glass insulation and high stability metal is sputter deposited on a metal diaphragm. The resistors of a Wheatstone bridge pattern are subsequently defined by etching or by a laser.
Automative Test System
A proprietary Automatic Test System (ATS) is used to test sensor assemblies throughout their respective operating pressure and temperature ranges. For sensors utilizing thick film hybrid electronics characterization data is sent to a laser for automatic trimming of the hybrid substrate circuit.
Data from the ATS is used to determine and then adjust critical component circuit values. This provides optimal performance and uniform output across the temperature and pressure range of the transducer devices. After compensation, these sensor assemblies are returned to the ATS for performance specification verification. A barcode tracking and identification system is used throughout the procedure to enhance quality control efforts. This process, which virtually assures 100% quality control, is unique to AMETEK PMT Products.
